I have a beautiful plus size friend who is always selling herself short. She is smart, funny, pretty, sexy and just cannot get over being plus size even though she has been this way since we were kids. It is important for us to love the bodies we have right now before we even attempt changing them.
Granted sometimes you can stand infront of the mirror and stare at all those lumps and bumps you wish would just magically smooth over but we have to find the strength to embrace them. This will help you create a clear perception of your body shape and learn to appreciate and celebrate your natural and unique body style. You learn to seperate physical appearance and true character and thus helping you get over treating your body size and shape as a personal failure.
Do not hide your big and beautiful body in over-sized clothes, because most of the time this is a sign that you feel ashamed and anxious about your body. People come in all shapes and sizes so do not try to look like someone you are not. I for one have convinced myself that I hate going out and love to stay at home and watch movies but I realised that I have never given leaving the house a chance because of my big girl issues and fears. I now try to have fun with my size and shape beacuse it is the only one I have right now and even though I am trying to lose about 15kg I am not uncomfortable in the body I am in right now!
I have a youger cousin who is obssessed with what the media deems beautiful, I have tried to explain to her that beauty has such a broad meaning and cannot be confined to what she sees in music videos and VEntertainment! Carry yourself with confidence and forget the haters, and when you read those magazines remember the power of photoshop, and please eat right, drink the recommended amount of water and move a little more!
